The FORWARD Emerging ICT Threats Whitebook

About FORWARD

FORWARD is a coordination action (CA) to promote collaboration and partnership between researchers from academia and industry who are involved in the protection of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructures against cyber threats such as malicious code (viruses, botnets, and spyware), spam, and phishing.

A major objective of the FORWARD project is to identify relevant, future threats that have the potential to compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Europe's ICT infrastructures. Moreover, the project aims to provide guidance and priorities to policymakers to initiate the necessary research actions to mitigate these threats.

The FORWARD Whitebook

As a main result of the project, the white book contains detailed and concrete scenarios of how adversaries can leverage the emerging threats identified by the FORWARD project working groups to carry out their malicious actions. The idea is that these scenarios illustrate future dangers and provide arguments to policy makers that are needed to support research in critical areas.
